About
The School of Fashion and Textiles provides education and training and commercial services that align to the Textile, Clothing, Fashion and Footwear industries. This work is enriched by the research activities of our staff and students. Fashion and Textiles is one of eight schools grouped in the College of Design and Social Context at RMIT. Design is an integral part of the School’s research philosophy.
Research and innovation
The School’s core research – Digital Design and Technology for functional performance textiles – explores the synergies between fashion design, textile design and textile technologies through the application of innovative technologies such as: intelligent protective textiles; wearable technologies; textiles for monitoring human body performance. The School aims to enrich research and innovation through the application of sustainable management practices across all disciplines, and has recently established specialist research clusters under the leadership of senior researchers.
