Draft out-of-round academic promotion procedure
The draft version of the out-of-round academic promotion procedure is now closed for comment.
In 2011 a new guideline was introduced to describe the process of seeking and approving an academic promotion outside of the annual promotion round. Out-of-round promotion is a retention mechanism used in exceptional circumstances to counter an offer of employment to an existing staff member from another organisation, or to recognise and reward outstanding academic performance.
The original guideline has been translated to a procedure. Aspects of the process have been clarified with more detail, and some additional requirements have been included to ensure that the process is responsive, while not compromising the standards of academic performance.
