Student profile – Antony Parletta

Program: Bachelor of Engineering (Electronic and Communication Engineering)

I’ve always had a passion for electronics, and enjoyed pulling apart countless electronic devices.

I chose RMIT because it was important for me to get hands-on experience while studying. RMIT’s reputation with prospective employers and facilities also made it the perfect degree for me.

RMIT has a hands-on approach to learning from first year, without compromising on the theory. Being able to take the theory we learn in class and then test it out in the lab has been a big highlight.

I’ve really enjoyed the opportunity to design and produce things like alarms and traffic lights. It's an amazing feeling to turn a bunch of silicone chips into something that has a practical purpose. To look back and say "wow I built that" is great.

In only a short amount of time I’ve not only gained a lot of technical skills but have also developed a new way of looking at problems. The lecturers and teaching staff at RMIT are really approachable and give me the confidence I need to succeed.

The large amount of project work and the included work experience is an important part of my degree and will give me the experience and the confidence out in the workforce.

After I graduate, I’d like to work for a company like Intel or AMD and help develop the next generation of computer hardware.

No matter what I do I feel confident that I will have the skills I need to help change the world.
