First and second-year students from RMIT University’s Business TAFE School have joined together to raise money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF).
Students and staff from the Advertising, Public Relations and Marketing programs were asked to wear a hat to class and bring along a gold coin donation which will help fund ovarian cancer research programs.
The programs are focused on understanding the causes of ovarian cancer, its early detection and improving patient survival.
The fundraiser was initiated by Peter Lawrance, Advertising and Public Relations teacher, Business TAFE School.
“One of my colleagues lost his wife to ovarian cancer so I wanted to do what I could to help raise some critical research funds,” Mr Lawrance said.
“It was great to see the students willingly joining in to help make the hat day a success.”
More than $300 was raised from the event.
