1. Discuss their position description, role and responsibilities of the position, how these fit into the goals of the team/school/department and RMIT, and what your expectations are, including relevant performance standards and/or measures. | |

2. Explain reporting relationships, the structure of the school/group and how it fits into the wider university community. | |

3. Advise the new staff member that they are on probation, the length of their probation and what probation means. Discuss how often you will meet with the staff member, particularly throughout the probation period to review progress and revisit expectations. Refer to page 8 of this kit for guidelines on probation review meeting intervals. Use the Initial Induction and Probation Meeting Form (page 9 of this kit) to plan and record induction and probation with the new starter. | |
