Responsibilities
General
- Contribute to the College's Academic Development Group planning; ensuring Student Transition, Equity and Diversity principles are incorporated into all business activities
- Advocate on University and other relevant committees on issues associated with Student Transition, Equity and Diversity
Student Representation and Leadership
- Support the growth, effectiveness, reporting of, and strategic response to, issues raised by students in Student Staff Consultative Committees (SSCC)
- Encourage growth in student participation, and the training of students on SSCCs
- Coordinate the staff SSCC Coordinators network.
- Implement processes and deliver training to enhance student participation in College and University-level decision making and advisory bodies
- Support the development and access to leadership initiatives and training opportunities for students
Student Transition
- Participate in development, and implementation of projects that support student articulation from TAFE to Higher Education, transition, satisfaction and success
- Provide advice and support, champion and develop, implement and facilitate continual improvement of student mentoring and peer assisted learning programs
Leadership in Equity and Diversity
- Liaise with other Colleges and the Student Services Group to develop a coordinated and project based response to support that meets equity and diversity goals
- Monitor and report on School Programs (Enrolment, Retention and Success) performance indicators against RMIT Equity targets
- Assist Schools to increase participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and staff
- Provide assistance, advice, information and opportunities to staff to enhance understanding and practices associated with equity and diversity principles
- Undertake initiatives that support the RMIT Equity and Diversity Plan (PDF 120KB 19p)
Scholarships and awards
- Collaborate with RMIT staff, Industry partners and other agencies to develop and implement scholarship opportunities
- Manage and promote scholarships for students
- Manage and support staff to achieve success in RMIT Student awards
- Participate on University and other relevant committees associated with student scholarships
